Question MS Forcefeedback Pro and WinXP

I have a microsoft sidewinder forcefeedback pro and I'm running windows xp. Everything on xp is running like a dream except my MS Forcefeedback Pro 1.0 joystick. The joystick installs correctly and works fine. There are just 2 settings I can not get to on the joystick. I want to change my return to center option to a more rigid setting and I want the forcefeedback to be greater. Anyone know I can get at those options in WinXP? I have heard about a control panel update but I do not know where to locate it. I can not install the game controler software that comes with the joystick because xp won't allow it to install. Any clue fellas? Thanks in advance.

hmm that certainly is ironic sounds dumb but have you tried searching on the microsoft website for any updates or software?

i personally have the FFP and found it to be a great joystick, but i havent used it in quite awhile, seems really strange to me how you cant install the control software in XP but like i said if you search their update site you might come across something

Thanks for the quick reply. I've been poking around their site for a little while and I'm not seeing what I think I may need. Maybe I'll just looking over it. I'll go back again but if anyone else would mind taking a little time and give their site a quick run through and point out anything I may have missed I would be greatful. Thanks.

    dont know if this helps:
    http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/si...ds/default.asp

    *add-in*
    http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/si...t.asp#gameport

basically there isnt yet software compatible with XP so you cant tweak it out until MS comes out with the next version of the SideWinder Controller software
