    Arrow Gaming OS

Between Unix, Linux, Windows98 SE, Windows 2000, and DOS, which Operating System would you guys want to play games on if you could play any game on it. Just a little survey. Thanks for your input.

I currently run Win2k and Win98SE. I probably would want to play most of my games on Win2k since I do most of my work on win2k.

While it makes sense as a developer to program for win98 (since it's the most popular operating system), it isn't much harder to include a couple of extra easy steps and get win2k compatibility. That way, you have the best of both worlds (from a developer standpoint), and people with win2k can benefit from its advanced memory management and stability.

Thanks for the response. Amazingly enough, I just installed win2k at home a week ago and I have found pretty much all my games seem to be running on it just fine. Some games seem to run better also. I would like to just get rid of win98 totally.

Hell if the ports and hardware drivers were there I would take Linux any day of the week, unfortunately that is a pipe dream, but hey you said it is just a survey But without that I would probably have to stick with 98Se, I haven't had alot of play time on Me yet, but since I am sure it is more of the same (Se) I can't imagine it wouldn't be the best choice.

    Cool

I agree with joeboo, linux its nice and some game developers finally decided to support it,but till then,I am stuck with win98.I also have win2k installed but even if some games rune just fine, others had some strange issues running under it,from slowdowns to crash. So,for the time beeing I still play under win98.

I think i would run my games on Win2k. I have been looking for a way to eliminate dual booting because, its so nice using one operating system and not having to dual boot. All your files, programs, games, etc from one point, BLISS!!.

If I had a *choice*, and all games were made / supported for it, I think we would all choose Linux. Linux is simply more resource efficient when it comes to running apps, generally speaking of course.

But given today's markey, I'll take *any* NT kernal based OS any day of the week over a freakin' Win9X system. Win9X offends me.

I do just about everything under Win2K, there's only a few games I've found that just won't work under it. For compatability reasons, I'd say Win98SE is a better OS for pure gaming. BUT(big but), Win2K is a much better all around OS, and it plays games well enough for me.

I think win2k is the best. I have never seen anything as stable. Thumbs up to Microsoft for this effort, they really did well. Hope they continue like this.

It should run 99% of most games. The only thing about all of this is the lack of DOS game support and Games that needed the DX7. The WinNt could not run DX7 games, so this kind of got peeps in a mental mind set that win2k would be the same way.

    Thumbs up

Windows 2000 all the way for me.

I really never even used Linux so I can't comment on that OS. Win9x, though, is a thing of the past for me (and what a horrible past it was). I can't wait for Whistler
