Maybe HD is starting to go bad. Could have some dead sectors on the HD and when it tried to write to that area ... error.

Do the following:
1) Scan HD for viruses.
2) Remove all temp files and temporary internet files (use Disk Cleanup Wizard)
3) Scan the HD (right click on drive in My Computer, go to properties, go to tools, and it's the top option.
4) Let it scan. If it finds errors, use your best judgement. If the errors are on files you don't need (anything that's .tmp, for example) delete them.
5) Open up a command prompt and run "chkdsk /f" on the drive. You'll need to reboot to do this on c: .
6) Once everything is clear, defrag the HD. Unfragmented files (IMHO) are less likely to get corrupt.
If you've got the time, run a surface scan on the HD. This can take many hours (or even days for large disks with lots of corruption).
You should scan and defrag your HD between once a week and once a month, and do a surface scan once a year. If you want the ultimate in disk scanning, buy Steve Gibson's Spinrite.

I know my hard drive is not faulty or anything. it is an IBM 75GXP 30 gig. It boots into Windows 98SE in 30 seconds.
i have found out that thie long boot time is due ot my high Point raid controller drivers.
I guess its up to High Point technologies.

I get those every once in a while, it could just mean a bad transfer, that it had to resend. Could mean bad drive coming, but also could just be random f-ups.

what would DR0 be?
i seriously doubt its a bad drive.. this drive is performing FLAWLESSLY.. no screwups no nothign.. it has been for 1 year now...
my systenm runs at its full ATA100 spec. and has been.. just LOGN LONG boot up times .. about 3 min.

I didn't write the program, but I would imagine DR0 meant DRive 0, or the first drive on the bus. for example IDE 1st channel Master drive.
