Stafford is a scrub, Det needs to trade down and draft some solid linemen. There is no quick fix here, the team needs rebuilt from the ground up.

Did you just say Detroit needs to trade their #1 pick? For who? If they traded it for Cutler I wouldn't be unhappy but Stafford sounds like the real deal, not that I know squat about college ball.
I do like Aaron Curry too. Detroit has had issues with defense for years now, and picking up Curry to work with Sims would be a great line. Man, Sims on the weak side, Curry on the strong side, that's a formidable line.

I wouldn't trade for a player... but rather trade down and pickup multiple picks.
Detroit needs help in so many areas that I think that they'd benefit more from multiple picks.

Problem is, many teams approach the draft wanting to do this. Those first few picks can cost the moon!

True... but Detroit owns the #1 overall.
If a team sees a player that they feel they must absolutely have... no questions asked (re: New Orleans with Ricky Williams) then a trade with Detroit guarantees that they get their man... no questions asked.
Now you can always wheel and deal after the 1st pick... but there is a time limit (not so much of an issue before the draft with the #1 overall) and every other team can wheel and deal just like you can (i.e. if you are going for the 2ns overall, you may have competition in a very limited amount of time to pull a deal).

Digital. This is what I meant.
You have the idea now though, we have to start somewhere and QB or WR is not the place to do it.

Jason Smith or Eugene Monroe would be solid picks for Detroit, but they won't put fans in the seats, so they will pick Stafford.

Apparently, the Seahawks traded Julian Peterson to the Lions for Cory Redding and a 5th.

Peterson refused a paycut. wth. would one of the Lions fans please tell me about Redding? I hear he has 'bust' written all over him.
