Post Radeon 32 DDR in linux

Anyone have suggestions on how to optimize performance here?

I know people post stuff all the time about Nvidia, but stupid me bought a Radeon after a review (here i think.) The card is great in windows don't get me wrong, but my card is very slow in linux. I speak specifically of the Tux Racer (or something like that) in Mandrake 8.

I have tried it in kde (which I don't like) can't remember if I tried it in Blackbox.

I wouldn't think the radeon would be slow in linux, unless you've got acceleration disabled. (and I have it disabled ) On this topic, though, should the RADEON all-in-wonder work (and be able to have acceleration enabled) with the radeon driver for X?
