I agree. IE8 is pretty sweet and feels just as fast if not faster than Firefox. The only thing missing from IE8 is the extensions. I'm afraid I can't do without Ad Block Plus and mouse gestures though. If I ever find anything as comparable as those for IE8, I'm as good as back in the fold.

IE7pro works with IE8 it is not as elaborate as some of FF extensions, but in many cases it would suffice, http://www.ie7pro.com

Since FF can live together with IE8, there is No need to make "Big life threatening" decisions, with time I learned when one is preferable to the other, and use both.

There are even add-Ons that help Sync. the Favorites between the two with a click, https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/668

Interesting. I'll give IE7Pro a shot and see how useful it is. Thanks!

The only thing I don't like about IE is that their is no way to suppress the text for the shortcuts on the bar.

    I never stopped using IE.

When everyone started jumping on the Firefox bandwagon, IE wass still my staple.

IE remains my primary browser with Firefox and Opera distant secondaries.

Chrome is simply out of the question.

My only fear is that IE is starting to get bloated.
I believe they call it "feature rich".

Right click on the Link entry, choose rename, delete the current name.

Press the left ALT key and while holding it down type on the numerical Keypad 255.

The cursor would move one position to the right press <enter? you would be left with the icon and one invisible character (ALT 255 ).

Note, it has to be the Key Pad while the Num lock is Off (the cursor position). The same number can Not be typed at the upper row of the QWERTY

That's what I do now with ~100 shortcuts. It is a pain to maintain the icons in the desired sequence because software updates. A drag and drop sequence doesn't last through an update. The only way to assure a static sequence is through naming. That is tough to do with volatile shortcuts.

What is needed is the same "without text" option for the browser links bar as is available with the links bar part of the start bar.
Using a shortcut from the start bar always starts in a new window. That is different from using a shortcut on the IE links bar.
