The only thing I'd change is the video card. The 5700 series does not perform well at all and for just about $100 more you can get a 5800-series card. I own a 5850 and that thing smokes!

Okay, so I change out the video card. Where do I make the extra $100 up at? switch to an AMD system? I removed the LCD and switched to Phenom II 965 quad black and dropped it to $870. I can put the i5 750 back in for $900. That's what I'll probably do and just pickup a new monitor later. Hmm...let me sit on this for a week or so and see what changes. Plus the 5830 is coming out soon. It's supposed to be a lower powered 4890

my opinion is go with the 965, 5770, and 22 inch monitor. There is no point in a 5850 if you stick with your 19 inch and are gaming at 1280x700 or what ever your resolution is. The 5770 is a decent enough card for 1650x1080, and performs at or around a hd4870, plus some time down the road when prices drop you can look at crossfiring the 5770.

That's kind of what I'm thinking..but I'm still considering the i5 750. Who knows what will happen this week with stuff, so now it's just a matter of waiting for the right time to pounce. Maybe ati will start bundling bad company 2 with their cards since there's so much ati/bc2 advertising going on.

i changed the monitor to a 23" 1920x1080. I've been watching more and more DVDs in my computer room b/c of inappropriate material for my kids to watch, the 1080p will be nice.

Ok I just priced a new system.

Same as originally listed but changed monitor, CPU, vid card and mobo.

New is Phenom II 955 w/ mobo combo http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.322821

    24.6" 1920x1080p LCD

    HIS HD5850 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161302

    So everthing except a case for $948-$30 in rebates= $918-$10 promo code= $908.

I think we have a winner...but I still need a case LOL. The one I wanted isn't on sale anymore. I might by that on the side at Frys.

Went to Frys. Scored HUGE deal. Crossfire mobo + i5 750 cpu for $220-20 rebate. Also picked up the Storm Scout from there. This saves me $100, so I'll probably be able to get the 5850 no problemo now.

    DONE. Here's the breakdown:

    Hanns G 24.6 1080p monitor
    WD Black 750gb
    GSkill 4x2gb DDR3 1600
    i5 750
    Biostar P55 crossfire mobo
    Sony SATA DVD burner
    Cooler master storm scout case
XFX 5850 Black edition (just for you Kama!)

After rebates and stupid Fry's employees this only cost me $950! (that and my dad gave me his win 7 pro that he bought and then didn't realize he shouldn't have since his laptop came with a free upgrade lol!)

I don't know. Newegg didn't say. However, XFX's website and everywhere else shows the XFX Black edition to have it. So I'm only going to assume it does. Find out Friday!

DiRT 2 is gorgeous and will really show off your 5850's capabilities, hopefully you'll end up with the free copy.
