Nope, would advise against this, where gaming is a major concern, vid crad's where it's at. The 5850 is two notches above the 5770, and it should the OP thru at least a couple of years of excellent gaming (the 5770, while good, it may struggle with more and more complex games expected out with DX11...the 5850 has more staying power, or better 'legs' if you know what I mean).

Personal preference or experience didn't influence me in my recommendation, benchmarks by reputable sites did. I had a TRUE and it is an exceptional cooler. Nearly every *reputable* site you go to rates the TRUE #1, e.g. http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/201...esting-fubar/1

If you aren't tired of shopping yet, then maybe the monitor could use a re-think. I have a TOC samsung, but I almost never see them recommended for any size monitor and suspect there has to be something better. Further, I think with this rig going with a 1680 monitor does it a disservice...bump it up to a full-HD 24" at least. Newegg has a number of such models that won't be any worse than the samsung you mention and are in the same price range. Stick with a 2ms monitor too, they will game better if you are at all prone to notice such things.

Thank you for the advice. I will start looking for a monitor. At first glance, ASUS VW246H Glossy Black 24" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor looks pretty good but I have seen reviews complaining about image quality so I am going to keep looking around. i would like the monitor to be a Samsung so I am going to start there.

    UPDATE:

So i heard back for the IRS today about my taxes. Looks like I will not be getting them until April. Pisses me off but what can you do.

Now then, with this information, I have decided to re-work my system needs. I want a system that can play World of Warcraft at 1600x1050 (or higher) at a minimum of 60 fps with all effect on in Dalaran (minus shadows). A system Like that should also let me play the newer games like Dragon Age and Batman: Arkyum Asylum at full frames. Can anyone throw together a parts list for that? I saw a list on a different site (do not want to name drop) but it was about $1350 and was i5 processor based. I can spend $1500-$1800, monitor included. This will be primarily a game machine so I understand why an i5 is a viable option. Overclocking is also viable.

    Thanks in advance.

    P.S.

In April, when I get the parts, I will still be doing a step by step process for the build.

Agreed, I should have been more specific. As the newer gen stuff comes out prices will drop, so wait to order as long as you can.

BTW I bought the same power supply as you, and I noticed that I might be a retard. I see that it says it is compatible with i7's. Does this mean it will not be compatible with i5's? If so. Oops. Might have to return that one.

By April Intel will introduce at least one more processor and nVidia will introduce Fermi (GTX480???).

I've never purchased ANYTHING that wasn't bested in a month

My advice, get the best you can afford from components available RIGHT NOW.
