Mages aren't OP unless you are playing on easymode. On hard your aoe's hurt your own teammates also so you can't just smash buttons and watch everything crumble. But I would agree that having a healer as your main isn't a bad idea as you can lose a few of your party members through actions and if you lose your only healer you are pretty much screwed.

I just beat Halo Reach single player campaign. It was epic and I really enjoyed it. I am having a blast with the multiplayer now. I think my next single player game is going to be medal of honor..since it is just sitting on the shelf.

Mages are much better than most melee classes because of their versatility, but they should be because they can be one shotted easily. 2hder dps really sucks. There are some hybrid builds that are ridiculous, but I wouldn't say mages are crazy overpowered unless you roll on low difficulties, imo they are essential to a good party.

Play on nightmare and you will be challenged no matter what you choose.

The lady you are talking about is a great character IMO, some people would find her annoying but these people are the same people that probably love to play a darker alignment.

Oh also, definitely pick up the mod that lets you respec a character when you get them. Bioware gimped the hell out of some of the characters, I like to have full control over each person's spec. I respecced that healer you were talking about the DPS blood magic which was hilarious at times in the dialog.

Well Wynne, the healer, can be sanctimonious indeed (I didn't mind), but if you go all bad guy she will go her separate way or even attack you depending on the situation and the endgame without a healer can be a grind. Once you unlock the Spirit Healer specialization you can have any mage learn it so Morrigan can be a healer too should you will it (but she also will have to go her separate way for her own reasons and won't be able to help you for the last few battles).

Being the Healer yourself does open your party selection more than pretty much any other style of character though, so if you want to have fun with varied team compositions this is probably the best way to go.

My mage was Spirit Healer with Cold and Earth magic (and since it was my "bad guy" play through a drop of Blood Magic). This way you can both function as a healer and act as a controller with the cold/earth spell (freezing/petrifying enemies, plus "stonefist" shatters frozen targets).

Finished up Bioshock2's DLC "The Protector Trials" Short, but fun. The reward for getting through all the trials (Getting to play a bonus round with all weapons and plasmids) is totally worth the pain that the first few go 'rounds cause.

Now thinking of playing Batman: AA. An interesting note that I was not aware of. Bought the game on Steam during a sale. I started up the game to configure my settings, etc. Once I was at the menu, it logged onto Games for Windows Live. I didn't think Steam games communicated with Live, but whatever, I think it's cool, and I can get my achievements.

GFWL is an added layer of functionality. Personally I can't stand it given the horrible PC voice chat options.

The worse is gamespy IMHO like with Borderlands.

Voice chat is just aspect. The multiplayer connection service is just cumbersome and archaic. You have sign into a second gameplay account and in some cases you have to set port forwarding to host or join. Port forwarding? Talk about going back to the 90s.

I won't as I've yet to finish it. Never caught my attention like the first one and there's always been a prettier butterfly on the road (tried three times already, allways stopped during or shortly after nova prospekt).

Any game that requires me to forward ports instantly loses a decent amount of respect from me. Users shouldn't have to configure their router to play your game.

Just wait until you get to Episode Two. It is glorious. Makes a very good argument for being the pinnacle of FPS thus far, even all these years later.

Just started up Dragon's Age: Origins. First playthrough.

Also multi-tasking between that, Mass Effect (3rd playthrough), and Batman: Arkham Asylum.

    Just "beat" NBA 2K11 today.

Played for three full seasons as GM of the Indiana Pacers. Not a fan in reality, but wanted a "decent, but not TOO good" team I was impartial to that I could build around.

First season, playing 29 game seasons, finished 2nd to last in the league at 3-26.

Second seasons (after some BIG offseason moves), finished 21-8, made it to the Finals, swept by the OKC Thunder.

Third season, 22-7, won NBA Finals 4-2 over Denver Nuggets.

Pure and simple, this is the best basketball game I've played. Period. Arguably one of the best sports games I've ever played as well. The level of detail and refinement is staggering. It takes some getting used to, and at first, I didn't really enjoy it as much as I thought I should. But after a season of playing, I was hooked.
I'm not even much of a fan of the NBA, I far, far prefer college ball, but this game was just too good to ignore as a basketball fan, and I can't go back to EA's NCAA Basketball franchise.

    Obligatory World Champ screenies.

My Final Score: 9.5 out of 10

    Up Next:

Still playing Shogun 2 off and on, deciding between:

    Alpha Protocol
    Mass Effect 2
    Borderlands
    Super Mario Galaxy 2
    Donkey Kong Country Returns
Hearts of Iron 2 or 3
    Victoria 2 or EU 3

    ...or something else entirely.
    Current System
    | Intel Core i7 950 | Gigabyte X58A-UD3R | OCZ 6Gb DDR3 1600 | PNY GeForce GTX 570 | WD Caviar Black 1TB | Windows 7 Pro x64

Currently Playing: The Old Republic, Fallout New Vegas, Xenoblade Chronicles
    Last Completed:Super Mario Land 3D..... 8.5/10
