The skill/rune system (does it even have a name?) is really more like the skill-based system in UO or even EVE online than it is a classical RPG where you just level up, get arbitrary points, and invest in a new talent.
I've honestly never been a fan of the classical system. Talk about "casual". All the characters are basically the same, save for a few stats points here and there. One of my favorite things about UO was that you could specialized in anything, to any degree you wanted. I also like how all skills are useful at higher levels if you develop them. In D2 if you put 10 points into a low level skill it was probably still going to be a garbage build.
Honestly, I wish they'd just get rid of "levels" all together and increase your skills based on usage.

i played the hell out of diablo I when it first came out, while room mates played viewpoint and crash on the ps1, i played the hell out of diablo II when it came out, but................diablo III just doesn't have the feel and vibes of the first two, i miss the attribute assignments, i dislike the art direction, it feels really weak and dumbed down to me, it has lost its original vibe and sole, i'm going to skip this game, no regrets

ive actually never played D1/D2 or any of its clones like Titan Quest or Torchlight, so to me i love the gameplay since i have no previous bias... it is very similar to Borderlands in that it is basically a loot grind but a very nice way of playing co-op

If you look at D2, when allocating stat pts all you did was put enough stat pts into str and dex to wear your gear, then dump the rest in vit. Not much freedom there
Corsair 550vx
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3L

Has got that jut
My release day shipping order hasn't yet shipped from Amazon, but it still shows the estimated arrival date as tomorrow. I guess we'll see what happens.

Kind of a misleading graphic. 25 of those rows on the right look awfully similar to each other, so without having played the Beta myself it looks like each of those are really the same skill but with progressions in power. Seems cheap to count them all as individual.
30 total skills on the left, and if you count each of those similar rows on the right as one skill + progressions you can add the 15 or so dissimilar ones on the bottom rows and you only get about 40 for D3. D3 still comes out on top, but not really all that big of a difference IMO.

Due to me being in Korea, and Korea pretty much being a massively huge market for Blizzard I get to play D3 hours before the rest of the world
Awaiting the install to finish

Also Blizzards decision to launch this game at the right time int he right region is a good one IMHO. They aren't treating anyone different.

i can see your point, i think what annoys me is that there is no wrong choices to be made, they allocate the points for you, and you have free range motion to enable any new skills without any penalties
i basically think this applies to casual gamers(which i am at this point in life), and it doesn't float well with me, i want to make wrong choices and be totally screwed later on in the game, that is part of the fun, and what originally drew me to pc gaming in the late eighties
maybe have a hardcore mode where you have to choose your skills wisely
.....but with the auction house, i guess it makes sense to tie your uberness to items
