How to change file names on a CD-ROM when they are "Read Only"
Making a music mix for a friend, I have tried to rename the individual tracks from the generic names assigned when I burned it from iTunes. the trouble is, there is no "Rename" optiobn, probably because the files are "Read-only" but any attempt to change that status fails because I do not have sufficient admin permissions. This baffles me as I have disabled all file and disk admin permissions on my non-shared PC. It's probably some proprietary, anti-piracy thing embedded in music files but if there is a legal workaraound, I'd love to know it, many thanks.

Twice, unless it's a CD-RW, once a CD-R is burned it is basically a CD-ROM.
ROM stands for Read Only Memory. There is no way to update it.
If you have a CD-RW (rewritable) the only way to update it is to move all the tracks off the disc, make your edits, then reburn it.

You have to change the name on the songs prior to burning. If you do burn onto a CD, read what James said.
