Lost Hard drive & dvd drive

Running windows 7 on MSI mobo with AMD Phenom 2 quad 4 w/8g ram. Have WD-500 sata, winxp installed. WD 1Tb win7 installed. Been running great for over a yr. On bootup it came up with black screen & blinking white curser in top left screen. reboot to set boot menu (f11 on msi) and only the drive with xp shows? Reboot into bios sure 'nuff only winxp drive shows! No cd/dvd either. Boot into winxp safe mode only now and under disk manage only one hard drive, winxp. Help. please? thanks, Alaska

I would check all the physical connections first. Unplug and replug everything. See if that works. Then I would update the bios on the mobo.

I would also start with the physical connection then check the BIOS settings.
