Cable Modem connection slower in Win98 that WinME? HELP!
Well I "upgraded" from WinME back to Win98. But it seems to me that my internet connection is slower in WIN98 rather than using WinME. I have @home and usually get around 75-100 KBps in normal traffic when downloading from a place like download.com . But Now with Win98 I am only getting 50KBps. Is Win98 not optimized for Cable Modem and that is why it is not going much faster? Is there any "tweaks" I am supposed to do?
Any help would be great! Thanks.

When win98 was made I don't think the public user cable modem market was very big, so win98's registry is optimized for dial-ups. There are programs out there that edit your win98 registry to change some values in your registry , optimizing your connection. The program I use can be picked up here,

WinME is optimized with cable users in mind I believe, but I went ahead and used the speedv3 by speedcorp program anyways. I also use Download Accellerator which at times can add up to like..50k/sec so it's pretty nice. Hope that helps...

It is because Win Me comes optimized for cable/DSL internet service. That and they rewrote the TCI/PI stack so that it was cleaner, and faster.
