Exclamation Diablo II problems (Random Lockups) WEIRD problem

For some reason, when ever I play diablo 2 online, I get random lock ups. These will occur maybe 1-10 minutes into the game. Everything will stop responding, but the dvd-rom light is still flashing and reading the cd and my music still plays continusly. I have only tried when playing online. I do not appear to have any serious IRQ problems. The only sharing going on is that my NIC card shares an IRQ with two USB ports. The only other game that i have tried playing is half-life using the TFC mod and that plays absolutely great. Winamp plugins that use Direct X also play great with high FPS and no lock ups. I am really stuck here because if it was an IRQ conflict, i would get lockups more often then in just that one game. Also, is it still technically a lock up if your dvd-rom and music still works.

    Here are my specs:
    AMD 1.1Ghz T-bird
    Abit KT7 w/ newest bios
Aureal Vortex 2 w/ latest drivers
    Newest Via 4-in-1's
    Last patch of Diablo 2(Duh)

Do any of you guys have any ideas?

this may be a shot and the dark here but I had some problems with Diablo2 locking up.
It turned out being my sound card. I updated the Drivers and it resolved the problem.

I just remember one more thing. I saw on blizzards Web site where it said to Disable your joystick in the display properties. they said this resolves a lot of problems with game lockups. In fact I had to do this was my old sound card.

yes. It's worth a try you can always turn it back on. I know it doesn't make any sense in a game that doesn't use a joystick but it worked for me.

go to blizzards web site and go to the battle net link. In their they have a section for Diablo2 troubleshooting it has lots of other things you can try. That is where I read that about the joystick port.

I hope you get it running, I never get board kicking that big red guys *** at the end.

sorry, I can't think of anything else. Just go over everything in the web link above.

Post this subject in the sharky extreme gaming help forum. You will probably get a better response in that forum.

Sorry I could not help you more.
