Like the subject says...what the heck is it. I know it stands for Audio Modem Riser, but what is it for? I've never seen an AMR card before...

Great White Shark
It's a slot that uses AMR cards. These can be a sound, modem, or both. They are extremely low cost and software based, meaning it is like a combination of AC97 audio or a Winmodem.
Only OEMs use them, and only because of cost. You wouldn't want to buy anything like that for your own computer. The quality sucks.

Thanks guys...we have 'em in a bunch of computers here at work...and we've never been able to figure out exactly what their purpose was as we've never seen any AMR cards before. Well...now I know, and knowing is half the battle... =)
