The only way your ganna make your card faster then a MX or GTS is if u replace the SDR ram with some 200mhz DDR ram
BTW I don't care about 3Dmark200 because it isnt a real world benchmark.
Is the GeForce2 MX able to achieve GTS performance? If so is it an overclock and or tweak as in the Radeon LEs case, or is it something like what you have to do to change a GTS to a Quadro?
How far is an MX off of GTS performance, I have not heard of any one taking on to GTS speeds.
This is the question im trying to answer here.not how fast a GTS can go,The guy just wants to know uf its worth upgrading.
From my experiences with 256 and MX, i say they can be fast as a Stock GTS(not a pro or ultra)at good 1024x678 16 and 32 bit resolutions. I know this is possible because i have seen and done it.BTW this card is at least 30% faster from overclocking and tweaking. How can you say a MX cant get 25%?Any card with 2 grades higher ram can get 25%
MX ussually sports 5.5 and 5 ns modules, the 5's will definitley get that 25% and more.

Theres a difference in getting the ram 25% faster and getting 25% more performance.
I'm sorry I thought u ment a MX could be as fast as a GTS in 1024X768X32bit,the MX @ stock is about as fast as a GTS in 16bit color upto 1024X768 but soon as u turn on the 32bit color or use 1280X1024 the MX dies,Thats why u pay more for the GTS,The MX will never match a GTS performance in 32bitcolor in 1024X76832bit + dose not matter how much u can overclock it

Ram speed is everything to 256 and MX
If you ever owned one you would know that.
And i did not say 25% ram sped increas = 25% performance increase. the rest comes from the core overclock and other tweaks as well.
Take 3D2k1. thats a good all round 32 bit benchmarks with main emphasis on the D3D open GL games. look for the stock GTS scores and they'r mostly around 2300-2500 When overclocked. the GF2 scores on any 1Ghz machine are between 3500 and 3850.None of which are GTS's as they ar all clocked well over 400Mhz ram.
Why is it so hard to accept? Its all there in plain english. Take some time to have a look at the ones with the high scores, they are not GTS.

Stop useing 3Dmark its not a good benchmark at all its prolly one of the worst.
I know that memorey speed is everything to a 256 its everything to all Geforce/Rade0n/voodoo cards.

Hey alex. What did u get with that card stock with say 6.50 drivers and no tweaks?
Better than 2500?

Do you want me to reinstall quake 3 again, just to make a point?
how about MDK2 scores? isnt 72fps in 1024x768-32 max texure and detail good enough to reach a stock GTS?
Its certainly very playable.

Thanks.
I just recently made 2621 on the GF256/Slot Tbird at 833Mhz. card at 164/216.just by going from 7.78 to 10.80 drivers.
Backed off to a very safe speed of 145/210, it still it still got 2400.
You reading this OC newbie?

I just did a test to see where the improvements came from.
I clocked the PC back to 800Mhz,slowed the ram back to cas3(it is cas3 ram after all)
so the machine like this is totally uncrashable.Superbypass still on.
Next i uninstalled all vid drivers, then installed the ASUS 5.33(not the CD version.the updated one.)
In the settings all i did was turn was turn 3d3 mipmap to highest performance.
the 3D2k1 score was 1653
Next i remved those and installed NV 10.80.
Then Nvmax automatically set 2xagp and SBA,I also turned detail levels down again, but left lod bias at -1.
Score was 1972.
Now I overclock the card from its default 120/166 to 166/216,nothing else has changed.
score is 2557
Then backed off to a very comfortable 150/210
it gets 2453.
Its quite easy to see that overclocking the card to a conservative level still yields a nice 424 points.
Thats a huge 21.5% just there
164/216 yielded exactly 29.6%
From the original drivers and straight out of the box to a bigger cooler, fast drivers'a few tweaks and safe overclocking, the gain has been a whopping 49.4% and the max speed is 54.7% faster.30% of which came from the overclocking.
any more questions?

GB_Cobber, read this review: http://www.digit-life.com/articles/g...pro/index.html
It's a MX400 4,5ns!! memory card OCed @ 240/260!! and it still cant reach GTS speed.
U cant OC regular MX400's that high! So, no GTS speed for u with a MX card

A stock Geforce 2 GTS 32meg DDR gets about 115fps in MDk2 useing currect drivers so im sorry your SDR is still way behind,Don't forget the GTS can also be overclocked.
