Problems using a cable modem on 2 pc's!

I have a cable modem and 2 pc's each with a network card(one from 3com and one from trust). I also have a hub and with the cables inserted into the hub it doesn't do anything after rebooting(no led reaction).
What's the problem, please help!

Most hubs requare you to plug them in the power and to turn them on.
Maybe that is the fault. Maybe the power-adapter is broken or maybe the hub is toast.

Sorry I misexpressed myself.
The leds DO work but they don't flicker like on a modem.

Could it be something to do with "uplink"?

They shouldn't really flicker like on a modem, they are more like blinking.
The uplink port on the hub should be connected to the cable modem and the computers should be plugged into the numbered ports on the hub.
Also each PC will need it's own unique IP address in order for both of them to access the internet. You can usually get an extra IP for just such instances from your Cable ISP.

IF you can get it to work on one then the prorblem is not with the hardware. For two you are going to have to do one of the following. Set up one computer as a router fot the other one. Get 2 seperate IP's which you have to call your ISP to get the second one. Or you could try IP maksing... Also be sure that you have a good hub... otherwise the collision rate between the two computers will cause you connection to slow down

you don't need 2 IP's, just get a router that you can configure with NAT and sub net the connections to the workstations.

1 buy router.

2 plug cable modem into router.

3 plug router into hub.

4 set up router with the NAT and specify the IP's internally.

your browser will query the router for the proper IP's.

in most cases requesting an additional IP will bring on an additional charge. most internet connections now are not static IP's, so everytime you turn on your computer you get a different IP address.
