I get my cable modem service from Cox, and I just recieved a big "tool kit" from Cox in the mail. It claims I need go through this "conversion process" to avoid a disruption in service.
Included in this process is some lame-o CD I'm supposed to install and enter some Authentication code.
Now...I personally can't stand having *any* garbage software from my ISP on my computer. So I was wondering if anyone had some insight as to what the ramifications are if I just sit here as is and ignore this. I find it hard to believe that there will actually be a disruption in my internet connection. I'm guessing that what they meant by "disruption" is a disruption in their many lame services I never use. Such as Cox.net e-mail, homepage, etc etc.
Did anyone else get this kit? And does anyone have an idea on what this really means?
