    Thanks guys for the input. And I agree with you on the point that the burner is junk and Philips is giving me the run around! I used the software that came with it,"Adaptec from Roxio". I've also used Nero. I've used 4 different disks including the Philips cdr audios. And the warranty doesnt expire till next May. I just don't know who I can contact to light a fire under Philips to get them to stand behind their products even if it is a cheap burner. Any suggestions?

    I wouldn't say right out Philips is junk, but you have been poorly attended to by the sounds of things. The ultimate way for getting attention is writting directly to the president of the company. One of our most senior members here at SF got a response and the results have so far improved from otherwise poor support. You have to be pretty serious about this though as his was a full system problem rather than a single peice of hardware. You could also find out where your freind bought the gift from. I'm sure you know by now though.

    All in all there is always a way to get through. I'd even try to get in contact with them for you, but I'd need more info to do it.
