    Post New fan recommendations

I have the OCZ Goliath HSF on my processor. I must admit I am extremely pleased with the temps I am getting. My prob is that the delta on that sucker is WAY too loud running at 8035rpm. I used to leave my pc on at night an dl. I can no longer do that because my pc is in my room and the delta is too loud. I need some advice here. Should I go out and buy a whole not HSF set up or should I just replace the delta with another fan? Recommendations for a new HSF or just a new fan are welcome.

EDIT...I still hae the old HSF I had in there. I had a 60mm Y.S Tech 4200rpm fan in there. Would that owrk ok?

For that cpu you'd get by with the YSTech. That cpu isn't too hot for the YSTech at the speed you're running

Thanks for the quick reply. I just need to find some screws that fit both the mount on the hs and the fan because the holes on the fan appear to be larder the on the mount. The screws from the old hsf look like they will fit the mount fine. I guess I may have to wrap something about part of the screw to hold the fan in place

The Ys should work fine. If you're trying to "make" the screws fit duct tape works pretty well for a temporary fix. It strips off easily and evenly, but after a while it does loosen. So be looking for right sized screws before the vibrations start.

yeah it will work fine, but i found that if you go overboard on the cooling fan the pc runs better. on my secondary computer before i upgraded i installed a fan that was designed for athlons up to 2.5ghz and p4's up to 3.(coolermaster solid copper) it is a 933 pIII and it ran a whole lot faster than it did. my temps went from 25 degrees to about 19 degrees fully loaded. so i think a big cooling fan is a good thing
