    Different sources expand BNC as Bayonet Navy Connector, British Naval Connector, Bayonet Neill Concelman, or Bayonet Nut Connection.

    I heard that no one knew the answer to this but people have guessed it to be Bayonet connector because you have o twist it like you would with a Bayonet on a gun in order to lock it in.
