Matrox Mystique 2? I think the Matrox Mystique was the last decent quality gaming card they made. Maybe they will get back into the gaming arena.

It looks like the rumors of it being called "Parhelia" (or something like it) may be right. If you watch that little animation that the link takes you too you may notice the three ring-like objects in what appears to be the sky. When light passes through ice crystals in the upper atmosphere is causes a circular halo that appears to intesect the sun in a plane parallel to the horizon which is called a parhelic circle or parhelion. Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong.

Or maybe it's all just a tease, those jerks

Wow! That's very receptive and a very good guess. If it is parhelia this could really heat up the graphics industry. I looked up the word "parhelia" on dictionary.com to see if it had a major other definition meaning the sky thing might not be what the parhelia name was modeled after.

Well the only dictionary.com definition was:

A bright spot sometimes appearing on either side of the sun, often on a luminous ring or halo.
So it definately appears to be the only thing "parhelia" can stand for.

The Flash intro also appears to completely focus around the lighting effects in the sky and also the flash into begins by just typing in www.matrox.com and going to the video card section, so if it's on the home page (or comes up while trying to get to it) this must be something big.

gF 4, Sis Xaber, and now a matrox high end card? Wow this could get VERY VERY interesting in the video card market

After watching that flash into i GUARANTEE 100% that it's the parhelia... Does anyone have the links to the estimated specs on it? I remember seeing them quite a while ago...

The Parhelia should end up being the G1000. It's a part that will compete with the nVidia GF5 and the ATI R300. Should be available in June/July.

    512-bit core architecture
256-bit DDR memory with dual access pathways
    19+ gigabyte per second bandwidth
    300 MHz core clock rate
    64, 128, and 256 MB versions
    multiple display support
    programmable T&L
    displacement mapping support

There will be no Geforce 5. The Geforce label is done for. I repeat the name Geforce is done, no Geforce 5.

    1. It is very real.
    2. Yes, I said it is real. Not fake.
    3. It is fast. It will have a new memory design, different from all current video cards. Memory speed will be faster than the current fastest (a GeForce4). Faster by a huge margin of victory (~19GB/s bandwidth).
    4. It is fast. It will be an all new chip. It will not be 256 bit and will not be 128 bit. Expect clock speeds around 300 Mhz. Also expect varied product offerings from this core after the initial products are released.
    5. It is 3D feature filled. Expect it to have a fully programmable Transform and Lighting. Displacement mapping is sure to be featured along with shaders. It will have the most powerful Transform and Lighting unit available.
    6. It is 2D feature filled. Before you say there is nothing that can be done to improve 2D, let me just say there is. 2D performance and quality will be a leap ahead.
    7. It will be expensive. Of course I have no exact dollar amounts, but I am fairly confident in saying Parhelia will be more expensive than current high end cards, but with good cause. It offers much more than anything else on the market.
    8. There will be different versions of the card at launch. There will be a lower end model with lower clock speeds and less memory (probably 64MB). There will be a high end model with higher clock speeds and more memory (probably 128MB). Then later there will be a super high end model, (probably 256MB and more features for its target market). The last one is expected to be pricier than the MMS series of cards and will probably be aimed towards the 3D Labs card users.
    9. Of course, it goes without saying, but anyhow it will be multimonitor capable, but will have more dual monitor flexibility.
    10. It should be announced within a month, maybe two.
    11. If you want one and can afford it, you should be happy this summer.

I know all of you reading want more specifics, and I know more specifics. But please realize the things I have left out are done so because I am unable to verify. Some things I left vague because there was conflict in the information I received, but were reasonably similar to believe they were worth mentioning.

We know that, but there's no name being circulated for nVidia's next gen part. GF5 will do, everyone gets the idea.

I think most of us prefer NV30,
