Surprised no one has brought up Sun. Sun already sells a line of x86 workstations I believe. AMD would be a valuable buy to Sun who could divert CPU resources from their x86 line to their Sparc servers. AMD would gain quite a large market share along with a gaurantee of Microsoft OS x86-64 support (because of antitrust laws). AMD would also get backing of the Unix community and Suns OS. Both companies are in trouble, but if Sun bought AMD, they could form a symbian relationship.
