jedi knight 2 multi-player woe

i can't play for more than a few minutes without getting an error. usually something like:

cl_ParsePacketEnteties:
end of message

This happens regardless if I join or start a server. I'll be running around and the game will freeze for around 3 seconds then I get the error. Here is my rig (don't laugh......for too long)

tyan trinity 400 m/b
p3 866 @710mhz
geforce 3
256mb pc 133 sdram
sb live
windows xp pro
all latest drivers to include newest patch (1.04) for the game.
oh, also i am using the no cd patch. i tire of searching through dozens of my game cd's just to play a freakin game!

any help would be great!
