Long live roms AND EMULATORS.
I love Popeye and Pengo arcade roms on the mame emulator.. I used to play those games for hours in the arcades about 17 years ago. I could be totally legal and buy huge arcade machines couldn't I? No I don't think so...
Come one man, lets call a spade a spade ok? No matter how you try to spin it, Downloading Copyrighted Roms who have not been released by their copyright holders to the public domain is ileagal. Now with that said, I am not knocking emulators as I have been using emulators since 1996 when the starscream engine was finally able to emulate the 6800 CPU and the Kick Rom 1.3 was finally able to boot on UAE. When INES was the best NES emulator to download. When the best SNES emulator only played Super mario bro. and that emulator was not free and was ridden with bugs. When Mame only supported 30 games, etc.. Now, to answer your first question "Who in their right mind would pay lots of money for old consoles and games?" Well, I would. I love owning the actuall thing. We, my wife and I, still use our NES, SNES, and Sega and still buy games for them. If you want to play them on your PC so be it, but nothing beats the real thing
