DVD-Rom to TV = blank screen

using a dell laptop(Inspiron 7500,p-3 650Mhz)with an ATI rage 2c (8meg,AGP),Win98se...
also using PowerDvd4.0...
i've got this connected directly to the TV via super video cable,the desktop shows on the TV,sound etc...even the PowerDvd splash screen shows up on the TV,but when i launch a DVD i get nothing but a perfectly blank screen,...suggestions?
