S.N.A.S? (Sudden Northwood Anti-Overclock Syndrome)
Ok I originally had a 2.6ghz overclocked to 3ghz on an albatron pev pro board. Then my dad got a 2.4ghz sl6rz costa rica. I heard great things about these chips so I popped it into my system. I was able to get it to 3ghz also, so I kept the 2.4 because of the higher bus speed and gave the 2.6 to my dad. Well I recently got an abit ic7 mobo and tried to get my 2.4 back to 3ghz. For some strange reason no matter how much it is overclocked it is unstable. Runs at most 2 minutes of prime before a rounding error occurs. So then I popped in the 2.6 and tried to get it back to 3ghz with no avail. Both procs run stable at stock, but even the slightest overclock makes them unstable. I sure hope its not the motherboard that is the problem because I just did an rma with another board. So does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? Oh and my memory is 2x512mb corsair 3200.
