Reef Shark
Dark Age of Camelot, Shrouded Isles Installation issues.
SI=Shrouded Isles
DAoC=Dark Age of Camelot
Ok heres the issue. I was logged into SI just fine last night, got a few lvls hit the battlegrounds, then logged out in aegirhiem. I try to login this morning, get out to the battlegrounds again, and I get dropped from the game after about 10min. I open SI again, get back out to my spot, about 10min later it happens again. I reboot, try again, this time headed back to the battlegrounds. It happens again, no error, no odd sounds/visuals. It just closes SI. I uninstall DAoC, and SI. I reboot, install DAoC, then go to install SI, and I get an error that says "An I/O error has occured. This usually is caused by a corrupt installer or bad media, please try again." I reboot, and try again, same error. I get a different SI cd, and try to install it, same error. I uninstall everything to do with dark age. I try again, same error. I try an alternate HDD (both HDD's have had no issues in the past) I get the same error. I get mad. I format and install Windows XP professional (was running windows2000 pro) (this is on the alt. drive that had no OS) I use NTFS. I get everything setup, install the latest detonators, and proceed to install DAoC, it installs fine. I try to install SI, same error. Now im really mad. I get a friend on the network to share his CD drive, and I try to install from that, same error. I try to install a different game and have no problem, I install another, and another, all work fine. I try SI one more time, same error. I check the www.darkageofcamelot.com tech support site, and find the specific issue I am having, it says to set my Primary and Secondary IDE controllers to use MDA mode. I check, they already are. I set them to PIO mode, reboot, then set them back to MDA mode and reboot again (just to make sure settings have taken effect) I try again, same error. I pull nearly everything out of my computer except the essentials. Same error. I am now formatting both HDD's, (using NTFS) and installing XP pro on the main HDD. If this doesnt work I have *no* idea what will fix it. I had SI installed on my computer before with no issues. I was running SI with no problems for over a month, and before that Shadowbane for 3 months or so. No issues with my computer till this point. I also tried installing the game from my DVD drive and got the same error. I tried copying the CD to the desktop (which was successfull) then trying to install from that, same error. I honestly can think of nothing that will fix this issue. I sent [email protected] an email explaining what I had done, but that doesnt fix my issue now...on the weekend, and I think I should be able to fix it myself.
Anyone have any ideas? Im open to any of them.
