Why OpenGL sucks in CS
Current video card driver: 45.20 Beta
Half Life is latest version
CS is latest version (well, 1.5 that is).
When running CS and playing with OpenGL, either the game just randomly goes back into the desktop without any message or warning, or goes back into the desktop and says: Faulting application hl.exe, version 1.1.1.0, faulting module nvoglnt.dll, version 6.14.10.4465, fault address 0x00015482. [IT USED TO SAY THIS for the 44.65 drivers, however, it has not done this anymore but instead...]
Now that I have upgraded the drivers it no longer pops that message up. Instead, if I die in CS and go into spectator mode, the game starts to lag. Its almost like watching someone on a webcam with a 56k modem and see their picture jolt around every five seconds or so. But as soon as a new round starts, everything goes back to normal. I thought I would just say screw opengl but no, d3d sucks even worse and the game isn't as clear or sharp. Any ideas on what the hell is wrong. I blame a 3 year old video card :-) and think it is time to buy a new one!!!
