Linux 9 Installation Problem
Hi all, finally got around to messing with Linux..I chose RH Linux 9...
Everything seems to have gone well, yet at the end of installation my graphics card seems not to be able to handle the given resolution/refresh rate that was assigned to it during installation.
I found this little hint in a book I have but it confuses me some:
If installation completes successfully, but your screen is garbled when you reboot, you should try to get Red hat Linux to boot to a text-login prompt. To do this, add the words "linux 3" to the end of the kernal boot line in GRUB or LILO. Linux will start the GUI temporarily disabled
After writing this just now I think I know how to fix it but since I have 1 monitor (second is coming from newegg shortly) an elaboration on my dilemna is appreciated.
To sum it up: need to boot in text mode to be able to change my settings
