Word of Warning Conserning Mandrake 8.0 Beta
Many of you many have noticed that Mandrake has recently released ISO's of there "8.0" distribution (can we say version inflation again?). Some of the neat things it includes are Kernel 2.4.2 (with a little mdk twist as usuall with Mandrake). I installed it to test things out and all went well except a small little bug.
If you have a promise ide controller (or maybe any other off-board or non-primary) ide controller it will detect your hard drives just fine but incorrectly create your fstab file so the kernel won't boot. You need to simply tag on the root=blah line when you boot your kernel the first time and fix your fstab file.

Q: How many UGA students does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: Two, one to call a friend at GT and another to follow the directions.
