X2 5000+ vs E7200?
Need some quick CPU advice for the following build for a friend:
AMD version: $157
AthlonX2 5000+ 2.6ghz ($90)
ECS 740G mobo ($67)
Intel version: $192
E7200 2.53ghz ($135)
ECS GF7100PVT-M ($57)
Rest of the system:
EVGA 8800GT 512MB
ADATA 2x2GB DDR2-800 kit ($63 with Newegg promo!)
WD SE15 500GB SATA
Samsung 20x DVDRW SATA
Apevia XQPack2 500W SFF case
Wondering if the AMD build is fast enough to handle an 8800GT or if I should be telling him to spend the extra $35 for the Intel version. Is there even a major difference between the two, given that the AMD version is actually 70mhz faster? Budget won't allow for any of the higher end chips so no E8400
Also, any issues with my Intel mobo selection? Just need something basic, it's not going to be upgraded or overclocked.
Gateway NV53 15.6": Athlon II M300, HD4200, 4GB DDR2, 320GB 7200rpm
Next upgrade: As soon as I can get an Ivy Bridge machine with 128GB SSD for under $600.
