sharky XP impressions
finally after backing up my important stuff from my win2k partition last week, i started to format and install xp. i booted from the cd and it installed flawlessly and faster than any microsoft os i have used before. it was probably 30 minutes between formatting and the time i had xp running (this is on my 2gb windows partition).
i installed a few programs and video card drivers without even having to reboot. the new video drivers installed right away and took effect immediately. i then ran all of my games from my other partition and benched them. max payne, counterstrike and quake 3 all run marginally faster while my 3dmark2k1 score is a little less. i did all this w/out having rebooted once since i ran xp for the first time after installing it.
finally 1 day late ri installed xplogonui which required me to reboot. xp also booted fasterthan any microsoft os i had ever used. it was probably something like 20 seconds from when i turn on my comp.
all i can say is wow, MS has really outdone themselves. i have now been running xp for 3 days having rebooted only once since i installed it. i like the sleeker, more customizable UI and all of my hardware and software has run without a hitch. XP has been a dream for me (so far) and i'm wondering what you guys think about it..
