Found problem.
A day or so ago in a thread that addressed the voltage mod to an Iwill, I reported my bus transfer rates were miserable.
Turned out to be my ASUS V6600 deluxe. It was running so hot to the touch I almost burned a fingertop checking it today.
Redid the heatsink with Arctic Silver II, then added a nice 50mm fan carefully glued to the protruding stands from the factory heatsink on the other side. Now I have a nice sandwich. I also bent the tab at the screwhole as it was off ever so slightly.
Temps dropped 23*F on card, CPU is running same speed @.1 less vre, the MC462 is doing its job nicely (room 90*F+, M/B 37*C, CPU 46*C).
Bus transfer rates are up again and no more funny stuff happening, the system is like a rock now, in its hottest environment to date.
Go AMD. Just goes to show you that you have to keep looking. Bet is affects the clocking seriously, especially at the higher frequencies.
Well, someone asked, I said I didn't know, got me to thinking, now the problem is solved.
Hope this helps someone in their quests.
