I have a Lite-On 16x DVD-Rom that I purchased in October that has suddenly failed on me. It worked fine up untill now. When I start my computer, half of the time, BIOS will detect it, and so will Windows. When I try to put a CD in the drive, it just keeps blinking forever(not loading) and I have to shut down to get it to stop. The other half of the time I will start my computer, BIOS/Windows simply won't detect the DVD-Rom. Both my DVD and my burner are hooked to the same cable whereas the DVD is the master and the burner is the slave. I don't think it's a master/slave problem though because I haven't changed any of those settings and it just all of a sudden stopped working. I have tried replacing the cable, but the DVD still won't get detected. BIOS/Windows detects my burner in all circumstances. I am running WinXP pro. Thx.
