Ok, my temperatures used to be good in the low 40s range.. 41-46 degrees or something.. I've seen them raise lately and recently they were as high as 58 degrees. so I decided to take my computer apart and re-apply the thermal paste and stuff and I noticed that there was a mountain of dust between the heatsink and fan. I mean literally a mountain. almost the whole top of the heatsink was covered. this is probably due to the fact that I got two huge fans on the side of the case blowing cold air at the cpu.. so anyways, I cleaned it off and my temps are in the 41-46 range again. . .
so if you have side fans on the computer, be sure to have either a dust filter (and clean it off periodically) or be prepared to clean off your heatsink every now and then. . .
I took a polaroid picture of the dust on the heatsink and I'll post it when I scan it in.
