    Post Trouble with soundcard

    My soundcard wont install. I booted win98 and it didnt work (It did yesterday). I tried to reinstall but i get an error code (69)...Do i need a total reinstall of win?
    Soundcard type is a Aureal Vortex integrated on the motherboard.

    tried removing all trace of the soundcard in device manger, also remove any reference to "aureal" in the registry and then reboot.

    this should get windows to find the soundcard again.

    Do all that, and when rebooting, go into the BIOS and disable it. Then reboot into Win, Look to see if it shows up in the device manager. It shouldn't. Then reboot and enable it in the BIOS. I had to do this on a mobo once to get it to work.

    error code 69 = disabled from hardware

    re-enable it from bios like mentioned

    Thanks but i solved it in another way . Windows reinstalled... Anyway i cant disable the card from the bios...(Iwill motherboard, LE370)...

    what do you mean the pos will not allow you to disable onboard sound?
