We need a Great Deals Forum

I mean we could post great online deals and Retail outlet prices. That way we always get the best deal.

We don't really need one, Anandtech's is the best, imho, so why compete. I check there frequently and they have WAY more people than Sharky's, so you know it will be more detailed.

This is just speculation but...I see two things wrong with this.

    1. SharkyExtreme/Forums is a revenue generating enterprise, not a charity. They make money by selling advertising space (banner ads) to target the core audience (that's us) A "Great Deals" forum would negate paying for ad space.

    2. Talk about spam bait! Everybody and their mother would post their "great deal" only to be some second rate knock off reject from crapolia. If it was legit to begin with.

I think the regular mention of our favorite retailers and occasional good sales is sufficiant. In theory it's a wonderful idea, but in practice, it's trouble.

Very true, i believe so far the moderators allow some form or good deal posting. Many times in the General Hardware forum someone will pop in telling of a good deal on a Lite-On drive, or asking if some other piece of hardware is a good deal.

This is generally sufficient, and all the really good deals will show up on sharky some way or another.

Not having a Good Deal forum can actually help weed out the 'not so good' deal...

I highly doubt there will be a great deal forum. There will be way too much spam and I just don't think Housen would approve of it quite franky.

I'll stick with the one at Anandtech.

Some of you may be interested in "Dan's Deals" - he sends an email every hour or so, with a list of all the new hot deals in various forums...anandtech, fatwallet, etc.

You can visit the site in my sig. We keep hot deals in our hardware section, well if we find them that is.

Btw having it here is not a bad idea but I don't think we need a forum, we need a section on the sharkyextreme website.
