Time for a New CD-RW Drive? Which One?
Hi guys,
I'm considering purchasing a new CD-RW drive for my system, eventhough I really want a DVD-RW, I just can't justify the cost at this time. However, my question is, why is the LiteOn CD-RW recommended far more than any other CD-RW burner? I've had a lot of success burning games (backups of course), such as MaxPayne and Flight Sim Pro 2002, on my HP 9500i.
So my question is, why is the the LiteOn so popular? Thanks for your advice.

I voted Liteon. I believe it is by far the best drive for its price, and represents amazing value for money.
However, if money was no object, get a Plextor or Yamaha.
I think the reason the Lieton is so popular is simply because it is such a good product for its price, and is very reliable, not to mention a good performer, and you get Nero with it!

You'll regret reading this DaFreak
Apparently DaFreak wants a brand what will work so well and one what will defeat any copyright protection on CDs made by members of the RIAA. Disney is a member of the RIAA, right? What a disgrace to be a Disney shareholder? Hypocrits!
DaFreak isn't in the business of burning Minney Mouse on CDs but "Jenna Jameson takes on Briana and Monica," He wants what adults want!

Go with Lite-On if you dont want to spend big money just for a name. If money is no object you can get a PLEXTOR for about twice as much. Both are awsome drives! The Lite-On performs as good if not better than any other drive on the market and they are much less expensive!

plextor 24x.
perfect performance.
besides, once you get up above the 24x mark for writing, the thing doesnt even spin at 36x or 40x until the very end of the disc anyways.

I would recommend the Lite-On 40x12x48 or the 48x12x48 version. The reviews i´ve read states that there´s minimal difference between the above mentioned Lite-on burners. Another thing i´ve read somewhere is that Lite-On is more compatible with different cd-r media than the Plextor is. This however, I cannot confirm. I can confirm that the Lite-On 40x12x48 is an amazing cd-rw drive for its price. It can do perfect backups of games, programs, and many music cd´s. It has the fastest Digital Audio Extraction which is 48x max. The drive has really worked flawlessly for me.

Another vote for lite-on. Not only is it better than Plextor in price but it is faster and comes with better software.
