you prob never had any of the 2 cards so shut up!

I'm not gonna get into a pissing contest with you over how much hardware I have owned or currently have. However I will tell you that I have owned every nvidia card since TnT2. I have also owned a Radeon 32DDR and an 8500. Not to mention countless other cards.

You sir are wrong. I care not to flame you anymore. You have shown your level of intelligence in your posts and it is not worth my time.

Saying a GF3 is a piece of junk has got to be the most ridiculous statement I have heard in quite some time. It was the top performer for some time and only recently (3 months ago) lost its performance crown to the new GF4s. It has stomped all over the 8500 forever up until just now. The problem is that now the 8500 is competing against the ti4400 and ti4600 cards and it STILL is not top dog. Never has been, never will be.

Funny how the 8500 has forever lagged far behind the GF3 in many ways and now 8500 owners are calling the GF3 junk. It's a strange world.
The R8500 has been matching or outperforming the Ti500 since the 6043 drivers.

Yes, it will last. ATI uses unified drivers now so they can only get better. They'll never have to start a driver from scratch for a new product ever again! The R8500 was released way before the GF4Ti. ATI has roughly a 9month - 12 month product cycle while nVidia has an average 6 month product cycle. ATI is simply skipping a generation with the R300. The RV250 might or might not compete with a GF4.

With that said, the GF3 is by no means junk. It's slower than a R8500 and has slightly lower IQ but it's still a great card.

Well, do you ever consider the fact that someone using an ATi videocard may be new to PC building? Or maybe something in the system is screwed?

ATi isn't the only company with driver problems.

If you can make a clean exchange, do it. I much rather have an 8500 than a GF3... not just beucase of the speed, but beucase of the immage quality. Also, don't let anyone feed you any crap about ATi's drivers, they're fine. I've had my ATI card for a long time and i have not had to worry about updating drivers in quite some time.
