ReforMating My Hard Drive Plz Help!

Hello Guys this is a very serious post and I want to do this right.

Right now i have a lot of music, apps and movies downloaded.
First i need to burn them all to a cd correct?
Backup all my favorites and other files that i need.
    1) WHAT else should i backup?

    2) how do i format if i am running windows xp home?

    3) how long does this take?

    4) can anything go wrong?

Anything else i need to do or have ready when i do this process?

Just back up all the stuff you think is irreplaceable as your word documents ect... also maybe your drivers, although they aren't that important since you can redownload them if needed. To reformat your computer go into ms-dos when the computer starts and type in format c: Forgot if this is for windows XP or not.. If that doesn't work just use a program like partition magic or MS Fdisk to delete the partition. Another way to do it is to put in your windows XP cd and pretend to reinstall Windows XP, it should give you an option to format the drive when it ask where you want to place the new Win XP installation. How long it takes depends on your processor/hard drive and system specs.
