    Would love to learn!

    Could someone please recommend a good book to learn how to create a multifunction web site? I picked up flash 5 fast from a text from a company named FriendsofED. I would like to really have a large amount of control over the entire look and feel of the site so a wizard would not help. So all in al this is very new to me what are someother options I could take. Here is what I need:

    I need a text that explains web design,HTML, and java.
    I need to know a reputable but reasonable hosting company
    Lastly the smartest way to register my dominion name.
    What ever else I am missing.

    Well I don't think there is a text that explains all three. If you really want to learn HTML/web design, try the "HTML 4.0 Sourcebook" by some guy I don't remember, I picked it up at the library a few years ago and it is VERY helpful for a beginner. As for Java, the book I used was "Java Software Solutions" by Lewis and Loftus. Not so good for the beginner, but if you have any programming experience at all (Basic, Pascal, C) it shouldn't be too hard. On second thought, it will still be hard, Java is a big clunky language because it forces you to use Object Oriented approach, especially for applets. So my advice is, learn HTML and Flash and if you really need to have some type of Java interaction, find someone else to do it for you.

    www.w3schools.com is a great site to learn HTML (amongst other great web stuff). Basic but a good starter.

    You probably don't want to jump in Java for web design, at least not right off. Unless, of course, you meant JavaScript -- in which case with some HTML know-how you can get into DHTML coding using HTML & JavaScript for some more interesting effects.

    I know a few people using www.aplushosting.com, and it seems very fast, stable and reasonable.

    I used www.arbordomains.com to register my domain, it was cheap ($13.95), quick, and they have a good web interface (plus up to 50 email aliases).

    i would also suggest www.devguru.com as a general reference and for clever web stuff go and see www.dhtmlcentral.com
