How do i create a boot disk under 2kpro ?

Sorry for this ultra n00b question but i can't figure seem to find an provission for creating a book disk in win2k pro.

The CD is bootable. Just set your bios to boot from CD-ROM first. You don't need to make a boot disk. But, you can make some install boot disks, i beleive they'rein the i386 folder...

if for whatever reason your cd isn't bootable you can make bootdisks (it takes 4 for 2k, 5 for xp) by going X:/bootdisk(s)/makeboot

(sorry can't remember if it's bootdisk or bootdisks)

i would STRONGLY advise creating these disks from a machine already running rather than from DOS as my win2k cd refused to acknowledge the existence of the folder at all - browsing through explorer would have been sooooo much easier.

I keep an emergency boot disk available at all times.
It only takes a single disk if your Windows (or Winnt) directory is intact. This happens when one of the critical files in the root directory becomes corrupt, missing or otherwise unusable.

Format a floppy using your OS - NT, 2K or XP.
Copy the following files to the floppy -
ntldr
ntdetect.com
boot.ini

When you use this disk to boot your system, the boot.ini will still point to your OS directory, %systemroot%, on your hard drive.

I keep a minimal OS installed on a disk volume that is hidden from the production OS. In case of emergency, I can boot that OS by using a floppy with a boot.ini file that points to the "hidden" disk volume.
