    Voodoo3 + P4

    I bought a 3dfx Voodoo3 3000 AGP for 25$ (from a guy) and I'm not sure if I can put it in my Gigabyte GA-8IRXP board(intel i845d), propably not isn't it? LOL

However, SiS645DX supports 3.3V? I think it does.
Also, does anyone knows how's V3 TV-out quality? And if you know any good overclocking/tweaking/TV programs I'd appreciate it.
Also, which drivers are the best for this card?

Just a quick question.. why did you get a V3? Sure it was a good card but it would have been better to just get an OEM Radeon or GF2 / something in that class instead.

The TV out quality on my old V3 3000 was very poor quality.

The voodoo3 should work in any mobo with a PCI slot. I love the card myself but I agree you probably could have gotten something better. But if you don't play games or don't play the most recent games with high detail you should be okay. Voodoofiles.com use to be the best source for voodoo tweaking and drivers. There were some great 3d party drivers - 60fps constant in HL! They might still be us you should check them out.

If I remember right the official 1.07 Voodoo3 Windows9x drivers performed the best on the Voodoo3. I don't know about 3rd party driver performance.

As for Windows 2000 drivers I believe the V3 topped out at version 1.04 on those. The performance lagged severely behind on Windows 2000 . If you use Windows XP get the 1.09 3rd party driver release. They have some nice features like anisotropic filtering.

My main vid card is a Creative GF2 GTS 32MB and I have also a Voodoo2 12MB, but I wanted a Voodoo3 so that I can play old glide games like Diablo2 , Elder Scrolls: Redguard and other famous.
Also, because I'm a 3dfx loyal, I want to have this V3 to my collection. I've also have the Voodoo1.
IN fact I want to find a Voodoo5 5500 PCI but I cannot find it anywhere.

I got a Voodoo 3 for my Mac recently. It works fine (a PC V3 2000 reflashed, may flash it to a 3000 ).

However, it was posted loose in a Jiffy bag (an envelope padded with one layer of bubble wrap), with the driver CD stuffed in as well. I am very surprised it worked . No anti-static bag. 3Dfx must have built tough cards.

Time to find a G3 CPU upgrade for the Mac, so Q3 and UT become playable...

Do you know which games aren't compatible with a Voodo3?
Like F1 2002, I think it uses larger textures than 256x256 V3 supports.

Are you really going to swap AGP cards to play a game? Or do you have a second system to put this into?

Also can you not play your older games on your Gf2, it's not exactly a new card it self???
    I edit evrything bacause I kant spel;

I didn't say something like that

Even if I wanted to swap AGP cards, I can't do it cause this V3 won't work in my P4 mobo(with i845d). I've got a second system with a P3 and a 3d (a Celeron 300A o/ced to 466 which rests somewhere in my house).

But my first reason to buy this(25$+5$ shipping) was for my collection.

Yes, my GTS is aging but I can still play most games, I'm now playing Dungeon Siege, I can play it well at 800x600@32bit, max details, 2x aa. I tried the SOF2 DEMO, I could play it at 1024x768 without aa, very good graphics, but I didn't like gameplay very much.
This summer I'll play Morrowind(when I finish Dungeon Siege), Syberia, Jedi Knights2 and maybe NeverWinter Nights. I still play Q3 Arena and strategy games like RA2 or Emperor:Battle for Dune. Will I need a new card?

Actually I was thinking of Parhelia, but it's expensive for what it offers. I'm waiting for new ones like R300 and NV30.

Hmm.. I didn't read the whole topic but..

AFAIK, only Voodoo AGP card that doesn't work on i845 and i850 is Voodoo5 5500, Voodoo3 and Voodoo4 should do fine.

TV-Out quality.. well, some people say it's great, some people say it's bad, don't know really, since I haven't ever tried mine..

    Drivers..
For Win9x use, either 3dfx's last drivers, VSA-100 (Voodoo4/5) 1.04.01 betas or 3dfx Underground's 1.09 betas. (Yes, all VSA-100 (Voodoo 4/5) drivers are fully compatible with Voodoo3 cards)

    For Win2k and WinXP, 3dfx Underground's 1.09 betas.

As soon as 3dfx-U releases 1.09 final, they are the best for any version of Windows.

Just a moment, you're saying I can try this Voodoo3 3000 on my P4 system (P4 1.8A o/ced to 2.5, GA-8IRXP)? I didn't know that. I remember an announcement by 3dfx (before it dies) where it says V3 and V5 is incompatible with P4 systems.
Can you confirm that V3 is compatible with i845d?
    Anyone else?
    Anyway thx Kaaos.

    I can't confirm it, but if I don't remember wrong, only V5 5500 AGP doesn't work with P4.
