    How to become a Mod.

My freind and roomate KegCanMan just recently became a Moderator in the Buy&Sell forum. He does an excelent job and contributes alot of his time to keep this site undercontrol and growing. I know this is probably why he became a Mod but my question is what the actual process that one must go through to become a moderator?

    Try this thread here.

It's fairly recent. I can't guarantee it's filled with a ton of usefull info, but it's a large thread with a few posts from the mods themselves. Generally, the idea has always been a superior knowledge of the topic in general and some social intelligence to boot. The idea I get from the info is that you are approached to accept the title rather than ask yourself. Mind, you making yourself appear eager to contribute can't hurt either IMO.

I'm thinkin' it's because he's buddies with Catalyst, because back during the time I spent everyday reading and posting here, I, for the life of me, don't recall KegCanMan contributing all that much. Just my $.02. I can name a handful of people I consider to be mod material, and he's not on the list because before I noticed he was a moderator, I never heard of him. Oh Well, I'm sure KCM can clue you in.

Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. He seems to be doing an excellent job, so it was a good choice.

Thanks for the help guys, was just curious to what the policy was and how things are operated here. I guess he is only the Mod for the Buy & Sell and hes pretty honest and fair when he conducts buisness. But when it comes to fixing his computer when he can't figure it out he comes running to me. I have to be honest though, I have also asked for his opinion many of times. About the Mods that run the Q/A, can anybody tell me what qualifications they have or why they were chosen. Just want to know what I have to strive for.

WOW....i seem to detect a little negativity there. yes, i dont know all there is to know about computers, and yes, i do have to ask my roomate questions from time to time....but that make me not qualified? hmmm. i conduct myself well on these forums, i spend a lot of time in fs/ft....never had a bad transaction, and i do give sound advice from time to time. and when i need advice/help i ask.

Not at all. I just remarked that up until a few months ago I didn't even know who you were. Obviously you've been here and have posted a bit but *I* just don't recall. I haven't posted much lately so that probably has something to do with it. As far as the "mod material" comment, that came off a little negative sounding. But what I meant is, because I never heard of you, there were other names that came to mind before yours.
