built in firewall in XP. Any good? Also, i get an error when i enable it.

I doubt it is as good as a full flege product like ZoneAlarm (which I am having problems with right now so I uninstalled). But when I try to enable XP's built in firewall, i get the error message:

"An Error Occurred While Internet Connection Sharing Was Being Enabled. The Service Cannot Accept Control Messages At This Time."

what the hell? any ideas anyone? thanks

A similar question was asked here . No outbound protection is what really kills this firewall. Might be better to just leave it disabled and pick up another firewall like zone alarm or sygate.

    Thumbs up

Better to use Sygate Personal Firewall or ZoneAlarm. Both are free for personal use. I know Sygate has full support for Windows Internet Connection Sharing; I don't know about ZoneAlarm. Get Sygate at www.sygate.com or ZoneAlarm at www.zonealarm.com.
