Virtual Memory setting....help please
Hi,
I'm currently trying to change the virtual memory setting to manual but my system properties panel always freezes when I try... Is there any other way I can modify the virtual memory settings, manually or using some progy?
Thanks in advance

TEAM AWESOME!
Why are you trying to screw around with the Virtual Memory? I changed it once to work from 0 - 35762 or something, because some website said it would work faster. I didn't notice anything, and left it at its auto speeds.

you may be making a mistake in the settings- say you want to set it at 256MB then both entries should be 256. Also - it is a very good idea to defrag before changing

good to have it set and not let windows does it for you. I found it much better and feels the system more reponsive when I use fixed pagefile. www.tweak3d.net to get some info of how much you need your page file to be. The lager the ram the less the pagefile it needs. And not the 2xram thing. It defeats the whole purpose of actually setting up a fixed page file. Lets say if you have 512mb of ram you not going to gain anything by 2x512mb of page file. Use the system resource manager and take some readings and then use those readings as a guide line as to what your specific needs are for your pagefile and how much You need for your normal uses such as for gaming or other type of work.
