Backup and Restore
Ok, one of the guys at work has Win XP on his laptop and we all have W2K on our machines. When we all had Win 98 he did something where he would use a windows program "backup and restore". He got used to doing it that way and wants to continue backing up his desktop to his laptop with that program. Is it still in XP and 2K? If so, where is it? I need help Mr. Wizard
Some day, that fateful finger from above will point down, and it will be pointing at me.

AFIK there is only one backup/restore program distributed with Windows NT/2k/XP/Net, NTBackup.exe. There is a shortcut to it called Backup.

that worked well for W2K, but I can't find it in XP. I did a search for "backup" and didn't find any program hits for it. Any other thoughts?

Super Bunny Mod
well I have a XP Pro machine right here and ntbackup is there, in the same location as in 2K. I use the classic start menu and it's in Progams -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Backup
If your sig is longer than your post then type more.

Something strange is happening. I went there, but it wasn't there. But I did see that he is running Home, not Pro. Is this function in Home?

Hmm did you look at the very first item on the accessories tab? also, try right clicking the drive you want to backup, properties, the tools tab, and at the lower bottom "backup"

The first item listed is Character Map
There is no Backup under tools tab of the hard drive properties. I have defragment and error checking.
I am starting to believe that Windows XP Home edition does not have the backup program

Bump
Can anyone tell me that Home has this program?

If you have it, it is in the %systemroot%\system32 folder.
Start, Run, type ntbackup, enter. If you have it it will open a window.
