Talking check out my Graphics card

this is the most sweetest mod ever since everyone only does mods on their case or build something new for there case which is the same.
This is a original 3dfx Voodoo 5 5500 with additional heatsinks which keeps the chipset on the card to a little bit under room temperature. So can anyone beat that with out using water cooling.

no the images refuse to show up. where did you get those links from? it seems it's a temporary url with a random component. a lot of websites, like aol webmail the one youare linking from, use that tactic to prevent unauthorized linking of stuff.

surely aol gives you some personal website space? you can use that.

    you should ditch aol too.

Posting images from your AOLMail account doesn't seem to be very smart. Try Auctionwatch.

With just heatsinks? According to thermodynamics and other science, that's impossible. The only way to get it below the surrounding temperature is to do watercooling or nitro cooling (and other ways like that). Your Voodoo5 is acutually a few degrees warmer than the surrounding air.

rlemiux, as much as I hate to say this, you have my respect for making me learn that the most embarrasing way possible on these boards.

unless the Voodoo5 has internal thermal monitoring of some kind, i highly doubt that you got the chip to room temperatures (unless you were using an extremely large copper heatsink of some kind, or one of those delta focussed-flow 40cfm fans). if you were using an external thermometer or your finger or something to measure, what you're doing is testing secondary heatpaths (search google for "inaccurate socket A thermistors" for a better explanation).

btw, were you talking about something like this? (my own card)

Hey tu2thepoo, it's something like yours but i used something special that is almost like thermal paste. i asked my science teacher to help me make this. it took him three months to make it or in another word to create it. he had to get stuff from alot of different places to make it. This cost me alot of money just to create this.

it's an old socket370 cooler master heatsink i had laying around - i think we used it on an old AMD K6-2 or something. I spread some thermal paste in the center of the chip and used a few dots of super glue in each corner; the heatsink's light enough that the superglue held it on, surprisingly well. when i tried to remove the heatsink later it took a chunk of the ceramic packaging with it luckily it still works fine (the GF3).
