    New rig up and running!

    Hey everyone-

As some of you may recall, I had been running my old pentium 166 with 1mb vid card for the past 5 or so years. Well, after much research and sharky reading, I ordered all of the parts, and built the rig that in my sig below. I cannot even believe how smooth the build went- I felt extremely prepared after pestering everyone here, and I am pretty darn happy Installation of XP Pro was not bad at all. Also, I have all of my IDE devices running as masters on their own channels (utilizing one of the HighPoint Raid IDE ports)

Any advice on bios setting to insure max performance?

    Thanks guys!

    looks like a nice rig

with the memory you have, i'm sure you could set your system performance (under dram timings menu) to turbo. also just make sure that dma is enabled for all of your ide and ide-raid devices (should already be enabled by default, but worth checking out).

    have fun with it!

Why not? I guess I have used windows my whole life and stuck with it for familiarity. I'd love to check out linux though.

I definately want to try my hand at a little overclocking (that's why I bought good ram) Turbo settings in bios work like a charm. I need to learn more about all of the options in my bios and what they mean before I dive in too far

I just can't say enough how amazing a transition it is to this computer! Everything is so fast! Thanks for all of the help guys
